Cycling through natures wonderland!
Starting out of Queenstown, and dipping southwards on the very quiet roads that edge onto Fiordland National Park, we stay on a local farm before looping along the windswept southern coast. We leave the rolling plains of Southland to spend two nights on the remote and magical Stewart Island with its beautiful bays and rare birdlife. The 8 day itinerary covers new terrain as we tour the Catlins Coast, rich in its history and wildlife. We picnic on the beach at beautiful Curio Bay, home to an ancient petrified forest, fur seals, rare Hector Dolphins & Yellow-Eyed Penguins before turning north towards our final night in Dunedin, with its rich Scottish history.
For those keen to explore this region more, we offer an optional extra one day cycling tour on the Otago Peninsula, including lunch at Larnach Castle and a visit to an Albatross & Penguin colony.
- a diverse 8 day tour that explores quiet roads seldom cycled by others
- cycle alongside Lake Wakitipu and take the optional Kingston Flyer steam train ride as you head towards Te Anau on the edge of the Fiordland National Park
- meet some "Kiwi" farmers, enjoy their down to earth hospitality and take a private tour of their farms
- cycle alongside the rugged coastline of the deep south, sculptured by winter Antarctic storms
- take an optional Sea Kayak excursion in Patterson Inlet on remote Stewart Island
- take an optional night tour into the Rakiura National Park to see the rare Kiwi birds in the wild
- discover the magic of the Catlins Coast with its beautiful bays and exotic wildlife

- Check out this You Tube clip below of our South Coast Cycle Tour made by one of our clients last season. Please note, this seasons itinerary incorporates a trip to Stewart Island rather than Doubtful Sound (as per the clip).
*A NZ$50/AU$40 surcharge will apply for tours during Easter, Christmas & New Year holidays where additional costs may be levied to meet statutory obligations.
"The biking was fabulous as was the diversity of activities. We felt very cared for and supported by our guides who provided many choices, lots of humour & knowledge. A great trip!" – Douglas & Colleen Gant, USA, Southern Cross Custom Tour, Feb 2008.
