This is a 5 day hiking holiday which provides a chance to get close to the pristine wilderness of the West Coast of New Zealand. From high above Nelson Bay we start a series of hikes which sometime involve an overnight stay in an amazing location. The Kahurangi National Park is a wonderland of outcrops and valleys with its many caves. We travel down the mighty Buller river and explore the coastline with its large seal colony. Five days of diversity, spanning half of the length of the West Coast, with a two day walk to the remote Ballroom overhang and its nearby caves. We sleep beneath this structure around a fire and next day explore the caves nearby.

 

At Punakaiki we get to view the famous pancake blowholes which provide spectacular plumes on an incoming tide. This trip finishes with the option to return to Christchurch on the Tranz Alpine Express.
