"Great Adventure Tours since 1992"

Adventure South operates a range of guided cycling, hiking and multi-adventure holidays to suit all levels of fitness. Our itineraries explore New Zealand’s scenic South Island and the cultural North Island. Small Groups, Great Guides, Superb Holidays ...

Come with us while we take you on some awesome New Zealand activities on our North Island Adventure Odyssey trip. Each night you will stay in quality accommodation in great locations so you will be fresh and rearing to take on the next days adventures.

Over the 6 days we will take you sailing, rafting, hiking on a native bird island sanctuary, drop you on an active volcano and introduce you to the Maori culture!

Don't fret about not being able to do the activities; our multi-activity holidays are pitched at the beginner to intermediate. If you want to give something a miss, then that's fine as well - some activities have alternative options. For example you have the option of rafting on grade 4 rapids or drifting down a scenic gorge with grade 1-2 rapids.

Departure from Picton/Wellington (leaving Tuesdays) dependant on where you would like to start. Does this sound like the adventure vacation for you? To find out more, follow the links to the right.

Tour Activities

Take a tour through NZ's National Museum and visit the conservation 'island" Karori Wildlife Santuary
Visit  NZ's National Museum, Te Papa and explore one of Wellington’s boutique breweries to savour a stunning crop of local and imported beers. We also visit within the city boundary one of the most exciting 'island' conservation endeavours. Surrounded by a 3 meter predator proof fence the Karori Wildlife Sanctuary provides a full morning exploring the tracks and the wildlife.

Experience the thrill of a white water rafting trip in the Tongariro National park
If you enjoyed the scenery of the Lord of the Rings movie you will appreciate the huge canyons carved in the mudstone of the central North Island. The grade three rapids are fun and definitely enough to keep you excited with guides providing instructions.

Visit a living, breathing Volcanic Island
49 kms off-shore is a smoking, hissing island, the preverbal weak point in the earths crust. Complete with hard hat and packed lunch we have a day long exploratory trip on this bundle of excitement and its lunar like landscape. There also an opportunity to see dolphins and sometimes whales as you journey in your comfortable purpose built launch.

Take a personal guided tour through a goethermal Maori Village
We visit a living culture as your local host takes you through Whakarewarewa village where the local people have utilised the geothermal waters for daily cooking, bathing and living for over 300 years. Taste the local foods cooked in the boiling hot pools and steam vents while you experience living history as your guide explains to you the traditions of the village and teaches you how to play Maori musical instruments.

Sailing on Auckland Harbour
Auckland is called the City of Sails and this 1.5 hours cruise shows you why! The Waitemata Harbour provides some wonderful views of Auckland city and used to be where we showed off our Americas Cup prowess, but now we don't talk about that!
